Marlin was a four-year letterman in both football and basketball. He was named first team All-KCAC three times and honorable mention once in football. The Topeka Daily Capital called Marlin, “the best lineman in the state.” He earned All-KCAC first team honors twice in basketball and was a member of two teams (1938 and 1940) that went to the national tournament. Marlin played on KCAC championship teams in both sports.
