Bob was a four year starter at center, earning honorable mention All-KCAC as a sophomore, second team All-KCAC as a junior, and first team All-KCAC his senior season. In early season workouts as a freshman, Coach Bissell decided to move returning starter at center, Ray Fox, to end in order to get Pinkall into the line-up. Both Pinkall and Fox became All-KCAC performers as a result of this move. Bob was football tri-captain his senior season. The Coyotes won back to back KCAC championships in 1956 and 1957.
