1987-88 Kansas Wesleyan Women's Basketball team won the program's first KCAC Championship that season finishing with a then school record 25 wins against just five losses, a season win total that would not be bettered until 2011. The team won the KCAC with a 16-2 record, while leading the conference in scoring offense (76.12), scoring defense (55.84) and scoring margin (20.28) that season and was ranked in the top five in the KCAC in three other categories and set nine school records. The Coyotes finished third in the National Little College Athletic Association (NLCAA) National Tournament that season as well as Monique Howard was named as a NLCAA All-American and MVP of the NLCAA Tournament. Howard was a unanimous All-KCAC selection, and Shannon Hentz was also named All-KCAC. Stacie Sproul and Paulette Hunt were named Honorable Mention All-KCAC and head coach Tracy Rietzke was named KCAC Coach of the Year.
