In 1983, Watkins led the KWU Softball team in six categories: hits (24), doubles (5), homeruns (4), RBI (22), fielding percentage (.955) and fielding assists (45). She ranked second on the team in batting average, hitting .400 for the Coyotes. She also had an 11-6 record in the circle, being the winning pitcher in all 11 wins that season for the Coyotes, throwing 103 innings with 45 strikeouts. She was a unanimous First Team All-KCAC selection in 1983 in softball. She played volleyball for four seasons, earning All-KCAC honors in 1981, and earned Honorable Mention All-KCAC honors in 1982. In basketball, she averaged six points and six rebounds per game as a junior, and she set a former single game record with 17 rebounds in a game on December 2, 1981 against Southwestern College, a record that would later be tied four times before being broken in 2007.
