Gene Bissell served as head football coach for 26 years at KWU. His teams won the KCAC Championship four times as they won 116 games. Gene twice was selected NAIA District 10 Coach of the Year and in 1972 was named NAIA Area 3 Coach of the Year. He is a member of the Heidelberg College Athletic Hall of Fame and the NAIA Athletic National Hall of Fame. To hundreds of boys, Gene is Mr. Wesleyan; to hundreds more, he is the finest teacher they have ever known.
