As the football captain and three-year letterman at center and defensive end for KWU Coach Gene Bissell, Jack epitomized the Coyote athlete. At Glen Elder High School, Clover excelled in football and basketball, both earning All-State honors. As a high school football coach, his 8-man teams were powerhouses, compiling a 125-35-1 record. Coach Clover pioneered women’s sports, coaching his women’s track team to win the first KSHSAA 1A State Track Championship, and then leading his basketball team to a 20-1 record during their first two seasons (9-1 and 11-0). Jack’s main focus, however, was always to inspire students to achieve their goals through dedication, desire, and determination.
