The 1967 KCAC Champions rode a 12 game winning streak into a three-way tie for the KCAC Championship.  KWU then beat the Ottawa Braves 85-68 to advance to the NAIA District 10 Tournament.  Led by Coach Ken Cochran, the team finished 18-7 overall and 15-3 in conference battles.  Much of the same squad would repeat as champions in 1968.

The 1968 KWU Basketball team captured back-to-back conference championships with an 18-7 overall record and a 15-3 conference mark.  The Coyotes were hard to beat on their home court winning all but one game before the Salina fans.  Late in the season, KWU moved into first place by defeating Friends 72-71 and then won the title and season finale with a 101-80 victory over Baker.
