Jones won two men’s basketball conference titles and KCAC Coach of the Year honors in 1986 and 2000.  He amassed over 300 collegiate wins in his career with 224 of those wins coming at KWU.  His 224 wins at KWU are twice as many as any men’s basketball coach.  Under Jones’ leadership as Athletic Director the KWU Athletic Department instituted men’s baseball, soccer, tennis, and golf programs for both women and men, and made cheer and dance teams a varsity sport.  More than a coach, Jones mentored and served as a father figure for hundreds of student-athletes.  The “Jones Boys” is a fraternity of former players, that he says, “I’m not ashamed to tell anyone in the world that I love these men, who are all my sons.”
