Gib experienced a tremendous athletic career at KWU. He was twice named first team All-State halfback and chosen to play in the Kansas All-Star Game. He was named first team All-KCAC on three occasions. He was a member of both the 1931 undefeated championship football team and the 1933 KCAC basketball championship team. His 34 career touchdowns are still a record for personal goal crossings. In track he was continually a place-winner in the 100 and 220.
