His high school athletic endeavors earned Terry two letters in football and three in basketball. He was named MVP of his County All-Star Basketball game. At KWU he lettered all four years in basketball and shot over 50% for his career. He was a member of the 1967 and 1968 KCAC Champions and the 1970 KCAC Division Champions for Coach Ken Cochran.
