The 2006-07 Men’s Basketball team won the KCAC in convincing fashion finishing with a 17-1 mark in the KCAC, and the team set a new school record for wins in a single season with 28. The team made the school’s first appearance in the NAIA National Tournament since 1950. KWU also had a school record 19-game winning streak during the season, not losing a game after Christmas until the national tournament. The Coyotes also captured the KCAC Regular Season Championship and the Post-Season Tournament Championship for the first time. The Coyotes won the KCAC tournament in thrilling fashion. The Coyotes trailed 55-54 to Friends in the waning seconds of the game, but Trey Sims proved to be the hero, hitting a fade away 15-foot jumper on a rebound of a missed shot as time expired lifting the Coyotes to the win. KWU won its first-round game at the NAIA National Championships, but came up just short against Northwestern in the Round of 16 game. KWU placed four on the All-KCAC first team in Jeff Baron, Trey Sims, Anthony Smith and Marcus Faubion. Josh Berry was named Honorable Mention All-KCAC. Faubion and Tony Boone were named to the All-KCAC Defensive Team, and Henry Rogers earned a spot on the All-KCAC All-Freshman team. Head Coach Tommy DeSalme was named the KCAC Coach of the Year, and Faubion was a unanimous selection as KCAC Player of the Year.
