A third generation Coyote, Pinkall came to KWU to play for Coach Gene Bissell in 1975 as a running back and switched to offensive line as a sophomore and was a starting guard for the Coyotes. In 1976, KWU produced the KCAC's leading scorer (Ron West, 78), the KCAC's leading rusher (West, 1362), and West set a then-school record with 314 yards against Colorado College. The offense was ranked No. 9 in the NAIA in rushing that season. He was a four-year letterwinner in football and was the only four-year letterman senior in the football season of 1978, when he was named Co-Captain, received the M.C. Cullota Award for best blocker and was Honorable Mention All-KCAC. Pinkall was also the punter all four years and averaged 33.5 yards per punt. He also was on the KWU Track and Field team for two seasons and set the school record in the Hammer Throw with a 151-0 throw, a record that still stands today. Today, Pinkall works for the City of Pratt as Recreation Director and he is a high school and college official. He has officiated high school football for over 30 years and also officiates at the NAIA level, earning post-season assignments three years.
