Pete was one of Coach Mackie’s earliest recruits. A pass from Pete to Guy Hinchman gave the Coach his first KWU win, 7- 0. It was said that Pete was able to hit the basket from far and near. He was named Honorable Mention All-State in basketball in 1923. In baseball he was a noted first baseman. His coaching exploits led to Coach Phillippi’s election to the Kansas State High School Activities Asscociation Hall of Fame.
