Jerry Jones Kansas Wesleyan Coyote Athletic Hall of Fame
Only the second basketball player to be named All-KCAC first team for all four years, Russ was ranked in the NAIA as a top ten rebounder for three seasons. He scored in double figures four seasons and rebounded double figures for three. Russ was named NAIA All-District, NAIA honorable mention All-American, and chosen for the District All-Star game as a senior. Russ set the KWU single game field goal percentage record of 10/12 (83%) and was ranked in season total points (7th), season field goals (4th), and a career field goal percentage (.524). Russ was selected Co-MVP and Co-Captain of the 1986 Kansas Conference Champions. Russ was named to the 1980’s KWU Team of the Decade and as the 1980’s Decade Player of the Year.
