John Ritter was a four-year letterwinner in basketball and a one-year letterwinner in football at Kansas Wesleyan. He was a member of two KCAC Championship Basketball Teams. Ritter is more noted for his post-graduation accomplishments as an outstanding coach at Tescott High School where he coached for nine years, compiling a 180-32 record in basketball that included a 29-0 state championship season in 1957. His teams won five Twin Valley League Championships, five district championships and five regional finals. On the gridiron he was 42-32 and was also a very successful baseball coach.

 

In May, 1957, John decided on a career change, entering the insurance business in Salina, where he had a successful career for over 40 years. John died on January 29, 2011.
